Students learn vocabulary and steps related to taking a great pictures. Throughout the year, students engage in thematic explorations connected to cultural exhibits in the city.

Through reading, writing, and listening activities, they become experts on a particular topic before they go on a field trip.

During the feld trip, the younger Elementary students meet their High School mentors and conduct a photo expedition of the exhibit. The images that are captured with the cameras are used as a springboard for writing, and reflections realted to key concepts that were previously studied.

The outcomes are tremendous as self images inflate and self confidence builds through the visual opportunities with the cameras, and the relationships with the high school students.Test scores improve and classroom teachers say that they see positive differences in the students both academically and socially.

We want to have a photo fest in the spring to showcase the students' work.We need more cameras and technology to make this a world class event.
