Students in my 6th grade science class will use cameras to create a pictorial inventory of landforms, habitats, ecosystems, and environments in their neighborhood. Students will make a direct connection from their studies of landforms, habitats, ecosystems, and environments to their local communities. Through searching for, identifying, and documenting landforms in their neighborhoods (e.g. rivers, mountains, plateaus, canyons, deltas, and other forms of erosion and deposition), habitats (e.g. grasslands, ponds, and forests), ecosystems (e.g. ponds), and environments students will be deeply engaged in applying what they have learned in science class to their everyday lives and surroundings. Students will visit our partner elementary school to present their inventories to 4th grade classes who are also engaged in the study of landforms.
