The purpose of the grant will be to increase student knowledge through students teaching other students. Our main focus will be on geometry. Students will work in cooperative groups to create a lesson about angles. They will use digital cameras to take pictures around the school, inside and outside, which show the 4 types of angles (obtuse, acute, right and straight.) They will insert these pictures into a teaching slide show about the angles then create follow-up instruction using these digital pictures.

I teach 6 different 5th grade classes of 28 students each. In order to complete this project in an orderly manner, we would need 6-7 cameras available (1 per cooperative group of 4.) Our students have been instructed in technology beginning in the 1st grade. They need to be challenged to take their technology skills to a new level.

In addition to the 3 Olympus D-540 digital cameras awarded in the grant, we would like to purchase an additional 3 with the $500 cash, adding any other funds necessary from our technology fundraiser.
Materials: Digital SLR, Slideshow, xD Memory Cards, Flash/USB Drives
Other Items: 3 Olympus D-540 camera, $179.99 each, total of $539.97
