Keywords: Movies, digital photography, history, art, social skills
Subject(s): Science, Social Studies, Art, Technology, Social Skills, Music, Photography
Grades P-K through 6
School: Hammond Eastside Primary Sch, Hammond, LA
Planned By: Gros
Original Author: Gros, Hammond
The students would be given a topic of study to research on the internet. For example: If we are studying Clementine Hunter, the students would go online to research her life. They may find pictures of her or her work. The students would then begin writing a script for a brief movie. After deciding what content to include in the story, the students could save pictures from the internet or act out the story themselves. While performing, the students will video record or photograph pictures. The students will then create a story board and narrate the pictures on movie maker or photo story. The finished product will be shared with their peers. Having researched and created the movies themselves, the knowledge should stay with them.
Comments
I teach approximately 700 students total. This proposal would affect a large number of students.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This exact project could be done for any history. The students could research the Underground Railroad, Louisiana Purchase, the development of antibiotics, eruptions of volcanoes and more. They could act out a story from their reading series. The sky is the limit.
