In kindergarten the main focus is teaching reading, well, you got to learn the alphabet before you read.

Day 1: Students would be introduced to the letter A, both capital and lower case. Students will practice writing the letter "A" in their printing book. Later in the day we will do a scavenger hunt and look for the letter "A" around the classroom and school.

Day 2: We will brainstorm things that start with an "A". Students will draw pictures of these items and will again practice writing the letter a.

We will alternate these days until we get through all of the letters of the alphabet.

As a conclusion to learning the letters. The class will be split into teams of 3-4 students. Each team will have a letter assigned to them, they will then need to use themselves and work as a team to make that letter. Once they have figured out how to make the letter I will take a picture of them. For example 2 students will lay down on the floor and make their body curved into 2 "c's" and come together to form the letter "O". Once we have a photo of each letter of the alphabet. I will print these pictures and bind them into a book. We have now created our class alphabet book to be shared and looked at in class.
