Students will create a digital storytelling project using photos of landmarks in their town. Students will take pictures of historical landmarks, important buildings, and statues, or other interesting landmarks. Using these photos, students will write a descriptive writing piece about their photo. Students will then put together a Lake Area Photo Journal for the school web site using Multimedia Lab V. They will record a reading of their written pieces so students will see the pictures and listen to the descriptions. We will also add a photo CD to the public library and the newspaper featuring local activities. Students will be encouraged to take photos at school and community events and then write articles. We hope to do this as an ongoing project so that each year new students can experience the rich history of Lake Charles while experiencing the growth of the city.In addition to the pieces on the web site and in the newspaper, every student will have his/her own personal piece of Lake Area history to treasure and share with family and friends.
