It is important to teach playground safety to all students as they enter kindergarten. I would like to take pictures using a digital camera of all of the playground equipment and use the pictures to create a class book.

I would share the book with the students before I took them to the playground for the first time. We would talk about each piece of equipment and discuss the right and wrong way to utilize the equipment.

An extension of the lesson would be to have a student model the correct way to use each piece of equipment in each photo. The children could see the child in the picture and they would be reminded of how to use the equipment safely.

I would keep the book in my classroom reading corner for the children to "reread" throughout the year.
Comments
This a simple and effective method to present playground safety to the children.
Follow-Up
After reading and discussing the pictures in the book with the children, you could take them to the playground and walk to each piece of equipement and continue the discussion.
