Keywords: Podcasting & Technology
Subject(s): Technology, Photography, Information Skills
Grades 7 through 8
School: Dr Walter C Ralston Interm, Garden Grove, CA
Planned By: Jeanne Tsuruta
Original Author: Jeanne Tsuruta, Garden Grove
I'll begin by demonstrating examples of various podcasts in different curricular areas.

The podcasts that I would like to create will help students become more familiar with our school.
We will create podcasts that have video, photos and audio:

I will instruct the students and teachers using the digital camera on how to take digital pictures, upload and importing the pictures, & editing the pictures.

I will introduce the digital video camera and instruct how to use the camera and import video and edit video using software available.

I will have to become familiar with the podcasting software so that I can work with the teachers and students to create podcasts to add to our website.

Examples of podcasts that I would like to create would be:
Welcome to Ralston School - Orientation for New Students on Campus
Welcome to Ralston's Library - Inform students about the library/computer usage, id card, check out/in books, fines, library hours
Jump start your way into Ralston's Fitness Program-introduce the students to fitness program, P.E.Clothes, & sports programs, use of lockerroom facilities
What's For Lunch - Instruct students where to go for lunch, where to eat lunch, what activities are available during lunch, etc.

Once we accomplish some of these podcasts we will be able to assist the teachers with their more specific podcasts to enhance their curriculum area.

Comments
We have one lab of PC computers and two other labs with Mac computers.
Follow-Up
Once the students are competent in using the software and hardware, I would like these students to work with our faculty members that have great ideas, but are not comfortable using the technology to enhance their curriculum.
