Grades 9 through 12
School: Gwinn High School, Gwinn, MI
Planned By: Heather Hollands
Original Author: Heather Hollands, Gwinn
Construct a project that represents a place in our community. You should go to a museum, library, interview people, or reference Michigan history from websites. You will have four grades: one for a research paper on your specific place; one for a project on your place that you will present in class; one for a speech on your project; and one for a “travel portfolio” in which you include all your place-conscious writing that we have done this semester. Please make sure all aspects of your assignment are visually appealing.

Because this year is Gwinn's Centennial, we will be publishing a special edition of our school newspaper The Paw to distribute to Gwinn residents and visitors. All place-conscious writing, personality profiles, poetry and local photography will be considered for publication.
Comments
We will need a camera to photograph local historical sites, landscapes and the people of our community.
Follow-Up
Students will present their projects at a Celebration of Learning, to be held at the local park during Gwinn's Centennial celebration.
