Photos will be taken of each student individually, either face or entire body.(It's fun to have students take their own portraits, too). Photos will be cut vertically down the middle and given to students to draw in the other side of their photo. This is a great way to teach symmetry as well as art skills. Students will tape the photo to white paper and be given several tries to accomplish a realistic reflection of their image. When they are pleased with their self-portrait drawing, students will cut out their artwork and paste it to a piece of writing, a list of their favorites, interests or strengths, or any other autobiographical form of writing. Students take pride in accurate art and writing as it shows a quick and fun way of sharing themselves with others. |
