1.On the first day of first grade the class will meet and greet each other and learn about each classmate. To facilitate this process, each student will be given a word card. To find their partner, each child will need to find the person with the antonym of their word. 2.The pairs of students will then interview each other and also use the digital camera to photograph their partner. 3. After each student has had sufficient time to learn something interesting about their partner, the class will come together for a classroom meet and greet time. 4.The teacher will record information about each student as that student is introduced by their partner. 5.Using this information and the digital camera pictures,a classroom display titled "Welcome Friends" will help all students get to know each other. This will create a classroom environment where each and every student has a sense of belonging and our unique qualities will be celebrated.Even opposites can be classroom buddies!
Follow-Up
