When a student returns a book, they will be given the opportunity to check out the equipment and a template for a script to create a podcast. The guidelines for what should be included in their podcast will be included in the packet that the students take with them. They will also be given the opportunity to listen to other student made podcasts so they will have an idea of what should be included. The language arts teachers could use the equipment to record students reading to show improvement in fluency. Students could create podcast interviews with various characters from the books. They could do mock interviews with the author or do a real phone interview with an author. Students could create alternate endings for the book by reading the last part of the book into the podcast and then continue with their "new" ending. I have a study skills class for 7th and 8th graders. They could create podcasts of important vocabulary for each of their core subjects each week. The math, science, social studies and language arts teachers will share the concepts and vocabulary with us and the students will create podcasts that other students can listen to as review before the test. Or, when they miss an assignment, the podcast will help them stay caught up. |
