The Effects of Industrialization on Farming in the United States Page Views: 254
|
The lesson is a power point lecture that I created on the changes in farming due to the industrial revolution. I break up the lecture with periodic activities that review the materials covered up to that point in the lecture. I also have a series of multiple choice questions built into the lecture as review of the notes and preparation for the OGT. I would like to add an element of direct feedback using interactive polling remotes that students can use to answer the questions. The questions would be displayed on the power point presentation. Students would answer the questions and within seconds, I would have direct feedback on whether students are understanding the material or not. If students are all with me, then the lesson can continue without further delay. If, however, there are significant differences in what is perceived to be the correct answer, students would turn to their neighbor and in 30-60 seconds try to convince the person why their answer is correct. I would then repoll, and see what results are. If it is necessary for me to correct misconceptions at that time, I could do so. This technology would allow both teacher and students to have immediate feedback on student understandings. It would also keep students more actively engaged in the learning process and make them more responsible for their own learning. This technology would also allow me to track individual students who are having difficulty and do further study with them individually. |

Follow-Up |
This technology could be used with any lecture type class to provide immediate feedback as to student understanding. I believe it would be extremely useful in a huge variety of ways. |
