Students begin watching a DVD delivered presentation of the manual alphabet.
Teacher will lead the students through guided practice of letter presentation.
Students will practice the letters of their name with a "sign buddy".
Students will view DVD presentation of a welcome, introduction.

Students will receive a worksheet with ten blanks. Not using their voice, but using sign they will introduce themselves and ask for their peers names. Names will be recorded on the paper.
After interaction time, students will sit and watch peers chosen by the teacher, model an introduction.
Introductions include first and last names, address or where one lives. As the skill is mastered.other details are added like phone numbers, and such.
Students now have time to develop a short presentation. It will include their introduction and the finger spelling of their name in front of the class. At this point a video camera would be useful to tape presentation for participation grades.

A digital camera is resourceful for new sign vocabulary that is presented and can be captured in picture.
Follow-Up
