|
Opening: Students will predict what type of community they live in.
Lesson: Students will observe the community around them, outside their school building. They will use their camera as their observation tool. Students will take pictures of what they see (i.e. the land, homes, parks, etc.).
Students will use their pictures to check their predictions and support which type of community they live in. They will compare what they see to the definitions of suburban, rural, and urban areas.
Students will display the information and include their reasoning in captions below the pictures.
Assessment: Check for understanding of the community they live in and ability to identify the characteristics of the three types of communities.
Options: Teacher could include pictures from the three different areas and then have students describe the characteristics of each. |
