Student should be able to use a digital camera, computer , software programs( excel) and (photo shop) to create a school-wide newspaper. Instruction in class will focus on the tecnology aspects of the start up of a news room. Class will be designed to look and feel like a real news room. Student will continuously change their jobs in order to master all jobs. Jobs will include: Deciding as a group, expectations and criteria for all stories Taking pictures for feature articles Printing and editing of articles Writing and publishing stories( computer) Using the writing process to proof and enhance stories Decisions on which stories to publish and when Use of all genres for the middle school corriculum: narrative, expository, persuasion and response to literature
Upon completion of a newsletter students will be able to : allow for free movement in the classroom (less confining) Students should be able to use the computer, computer programs, digital cameras, editing and printing of pictures, use of the writing process for editing stories and demonstrate their knowledge of language arts curriculum for grades 6-8 |

students will become capable of learning a real life, Job skill, real life application and cooperation skills of working together and doing some jobs they don't like. |

Many cross curricular skills will be involved depending on the story being writteni.e. a story about global warming or the rain forest |
