1.The teacher will read SHAPes, SHAPES, SHAPES by Tana Hoban and LOOK BOOK by Tana Hoban aloud to the children during group time. 2. The class will make a list of shapes they know. 3. The teacher will show a Power Point presentation of shapes and clip art pictures of environmental objects that are that shape (ex: a tire for a circle, a clown hat for a triangle, etc.) 4. The students will name the objects and the shapes. 5. In pairs, the students will use the digital cameras to take pictures of objects around the classroom and playground that are the different shapes that they choose. 6. The teacher will upload the pictures to the computer. 7. The students will, with the teacher's help, type a title for their book, add the pictures to each page of the book (one shape per page), and dictate captions to their pictures (ex: A tire is a circle.) 8. The students will save their book and print it. 9. The teacher will laminate and bind the books for the students. 10. The students will share their books with their classmates, other classes, and families. 11. The books will be displayed in the classroom and hallway for other members of the school to enjoy. |
