The following are steps we would take to complete this two week Writing & Technology project. There are extensions listed after the lesson.

1. First the students will be read and shown and example of an Autobiography of the teacher. This will be done in print form and also in a digital book form.

2. Students will be asked to take pictures at school and home that represent their life. This can be friends, pets, home, sports team, etc.

3. Students will then take the photographs after being developed (or online) and create captions to go along with the photographs of their life.

4. Students will be asked to create a book about their life putting the photographs with captions in order. They will use the photographs as inspiration to create paragraphs about the different areas of their life including interests.

5. I would like the students to publish and electronic version on our class blog of their Autobiography to share with family, other stuents, students at other elementary schools in the district, etc.

6. Students will present and read their autobiography to the class and even through a parent night.

Extensions:

Students can then interview someone in their family or a friend and create a biography using pictures and an online publishing system (software). These can be presented to the class.

We can take the Autobiographies and use an audio program to record the students reading their Autobiography and creating a podcast for others to view.
