For this science project, you will need to choose one project from the project menu below, research your biome, and create the project based on your biome. Also, be sure to review the attached rubric to ensure that your project includes all required components and return the project menu slip to your science teacher tomorrow. As usual, parent assistance is encouraged. However, you, as the student, should complete the bulk of the project. Be creative and have fun. If you have any questions regarding this project or need assistance, please see your science teacher prior to the due date. Discuss the 4 project options below with your parents and check the box for the project you have chosen.
Biome Scrapbook
Create a scrapbook about your biome. Decorate the cover based on your biome. Use pictures, examples, captions, and drawings to fill your pages. Your scrapbook should include 1 page for EACH for the following: 1. CLIMATE 2. PLANTS/VEGETATION 3. ANIMALS 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS 5. PEOPLE/CUSTOMS/TRADITIONS 6. WRITTEN REPORT
Biome Diorama
Use pictures, examples, and drawings to create a three dimensional scene to display your biome. The following components need to be included: 1. CLIMATE 2. PLANTS/VEGETATION 3. ANIMALS 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS 5. PEOPLE/CUSTOMS/TRADITIONS 6. ORAL PRESENTATION & OUTLINE OF YOUR DIORAMA
Biome Survival Backpack
Use pictures and real life items to pack a backpack that will show how you will survive a trip to your biome. You should have 3 items for EACH of the following: 1. CLIMATE 2. PLANTS/VEGETATION 3. ANIMALS 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS 5. PEOPLE/CUSTOMS/TRADITIONS 6. ORAL REPORT & OUTLINE TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU NEED EACH ITEM TO SURVIVE IN YOUR BIOME.
Student vs. Wild Video Documentary
Decorate the background scenery of your video for your biome. Create a video documentary of your “exploration” through your biome scene. Project can be in DVD or VHS Format. It should be a minimum of 5 minutes long, but should not exceed 10 minutes. Be sure to include items/scenery for the following: 1. CLIMATE 2. PLANTS/VEGETATION 3. ANIMALS 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS 5.
