Lesson 1: Create a “Power Point” Presentation of a famous artist’s life and work- This activity supports Language Arts Standards, conducting research, taking notes, writing outlines, and participating in an oral presentation. It will give each student an opportunity to use these skills in the future. Students will follow a step-by-step outline, in order to construct their Power Point Presentation and to use Tool Factory Word Processor. Students will then analyze their Power Point according to a checklist created. This lesson enables students with a wide variety of learning styles to participate successfully. This lesson will be measured through a checklist designed to guide the production of the actual work produced by the student participants, including presentations and art project. The students will use the camera to take digital photos of their artwork based on each student's chosen artist and download their digital image into their Power Point.
Lesson 2: Create a Self Portrait using Multimedia Technologies- After viewing the video “ Frida Kahlo” and viewing visual slides of Kahlo’s paintings, students will be able to recognize basic characteristics of the painter style. With the use of Tool Factory, students will create a self-portrait. Students will use a digital camera to photograph each other, a scanner to scan additional media in order to create a self-portrait that will be manipulated. This lesson will be measured through teacher observation of actual work produced by the students. Students will be evaluated using a performance rubric and rubric for the final project.
Lesson 3: Create an Impressionist Landscape- Students will view the video “Landscape into Art.” Students will be able to identify the basic parts of a traditional landscape, and discuss ways of creating moods and balance in a landscape. The students will take a field trip around the school and take various photos of the school's building and surrounding areas. Students will download the images into their computer and manipulate the images into an impressionist landscape. Students will print the image and create an impressionist landscape painting using the image as reference. |
