The students will be informed that they will be creating a calendar that represents who they are. During independent work time, students will take photographs of themselves, their families, hobbies, etc. that they would like for their calendar and decide which image will represent the twelve different calendar months. After the students have brainstormed how they would like their calendars to look, they will be allowed ample time to create their calendars on the computer. The students will use the calendar wizard in Microsoft Publisher.

The time allotted for creating the calendars will depend on the students’ access to computers, the publishing program they are using and how well the students organized their images and thoughts prior to getting on the computers. You may choose, depending on your class objectives for this project, to have your students type in a fact about each picture in the space provided below their image.

After the students have completed their calendars, print out a copy of each one. Make sure to separate and label the individual calendars. Once you have all the calendars completed, you can bind them with a school- binding machine, or using staples or yarn.
