1. Introduce assignment by talking about the local historical sites within your area. 2. Discuss the different ways we can learn about the sites. (Internet, books, local museums, etc.) 3. Have students use a digital camera or video camera to go on a walking field trip around town to capture some of the local landmarks and sites. 4. Once the photos are taken, students will upload to the pictures and use them in a PowerPoint presentation, iMovie, or Podcast. Each presentation must include a certain number of facts for each landmark. Students must incorporate sound effects and transitions in their project. 5. Students share their projects on the school website as a link.
This lesson plan can be altered to cover just about any topic. While using reading and writing skills, students can demonstrate their creativity as well as their knowledge in various academic areas. |

Students can use the skills learned to create a video, PowerPoint, or other type of presentation such as "What 4th Grade is All About, How To Videos, Welcome Video for new students, etc. |
