Students will work in cooperative groups to complete a webquest. Each group member will have a specific task. Members will work both independently and as a group to complete the project.
The tasks will be as follows:
The Investigator will explore websites selected by the teacher to research shadows and the Earth's rotation, tilt, and seasons. They will gather information, and discuss it with their group members.
A photojournalist will take pictures of one of the group members in a specific location on specific dates and times while the remaining group member(s) measure and record the length and direction of the shadows. This data will be collected over the course of three seasons.
The Director will be responsible for recording the measurements, research, and photos in a database and word document so it may be used later to prepare a group presentation.
When all the tasks have been completed, the groups will prepare a Power Point presentation for their classmates which will include pictures, graphs, and brief explanations of their findings.
