Alternative Personality Portraits

Students will use either a school provided or a personal digital camera to have a series of self-portraits taken. The images are transferred to a computer that has Adobe Photoshop Elements loaded. As individuals or a group, the students are introduced to selection tools, layers and filters. They are instructed to save copies of their images to maintain the integrity of the original photograph. They use the copies to experiment with the use of the Photoshop tools to alter their images using filters, color replacement, healing tools etc. to create a series of unique images. They will need to save a series of the images to demonstrate that they successfully used the various tools. Best examples may be printed for an exhibition somewhere on campus and digital shows may also be compiled for sharing. Superb examples may be used for high school art competions.
