Daily Announcements Made Easy!

OBJECTIVES:
Students will synthesize information to create daily or weekly announcements for school or class.

MATERIALS:
~ Classroom computer
~ Webcam
~ NewsMaker Software
~ Headphones with microphone (optional)
~ Website to broadcast video


PROCEDURES:
1. Students must first be taught about plagarism and properly citing sources of information.
2. Instruct students on how to use NewsMaker software, including writing the script and settings.
3. Allow each student to practice using the software and webcam in order to familiarize them before they must create an announcement. Create a rotation schedule for students responsible for announcements.
4. Depending on information normally broadcast during announcements, teach students how to find information needed for announcements. For example, our school sometimes announces "This Day in History". Teach students how to locate information and give credit to person or group responsible for information.
5. Create announcement and allow students to critique movie in order to improve in the future.
6. Upload video to school or class website and publicize link.
