Objective: To write a descriptive poem using a student generated photograph.

Processs:
1. The students will practice writing descriptions of magazine pictures and/or works of art. The focus will be developing precise language that utilizes the senses. These descriptions will be in paragraph form.
2. Students will then underline key words and phrases that describe this picture.
3. With these underlined words/phrases students will rearrange and construct a free verse poem.
4. Students will be given a digital camera and sent out to take a picture that has meaning to that student.
5. Using this picture the student will write a descriptive paragraph, using precise sensory words.
6. Students will then underline words/phrases that seems key to the picture.
7. Students will rearrange the words/phrases to create a free verse poem. Students will give the poem a title.
8. Poems will be copied on a paper with the accompanying photograph that was being described. Poems will be displayed in the media center for viewing by the school. Poems and photographs will also be available as a slide show presentation for parent/teacher/student conferences
