|
Students are divided into small groups of approximately 4-5 based on state testing levels. They are given novels to read such as: Double Dutch, Sharon Draper Monster, Walter Dean Myers Trouble Don't Last, Shelley Pearsall Tears of a Tiger, Sharon Draper Bud, Not Buddy, Christopher Paul Curtis
Students will complete the K and W of a KWL chart. They will then read the novel in groups and discuss each day the events of the book. Students will do novel questions for homework. When the novel is completed, students will research information on the authors. They will then in groups create posters about the authors of the novels. These posters are displayed in the lunchroom for awareness of Black History Month. |
