6th/7th/8th Grade Objectives:
Standard I: Geography World Studies: Identify, evaluate information, and draw conclusions from different kinds of maps, and from graphs, charts, diagrams, and other representations (e.g., aerial and shuttle photographs, satellite-produced images, the geographic information system, and computer-based technologies.
Describe the significance of land use, settlement patterns, cultural transmission of customs and ideas, and alternate uses of land and other resources.

I. A. Explain the significance of early Spanish and French expeditions (e.g., Coronado, Onate, and LaHarpe).

I. B. Evaluate the lasting impact of American exploration including the Pike, Wilkinson, and Long expeditions.

I. C. Analyze the impact of territorial claims on the development of the state of Oklahoma, including the Louisiana Purchase and Adams-Onis Treaty.

VI Interpret information using a broad selection of resource materials, including encyclopedias, almanacs, timelines, dictionaries, atlases, maps, graphs, charts, globes, pictures, cartoons, and computer-based technologies

Activities:
1. Students will use mobile lab to photography various Historical Oklahoma landmarks and provide a visual interpretation of those landmarks.
2. Students will interview Oklahomans by email, phone, or in person and create a human visual record of the people interviewed.
3. Students will learn the proper use and care of digital electronics. Students will learn how to upload, download, and edit still and video components.
4. Students will become the authors of the schools yearbook.
5. Students will learn how to create and maintain a student section on the schools website.
6. Students will learn how to speak and present to a group of people including students and community members.
7. Students will use a software, Smartboard, projector and laptop to present the created projects.

Closing:
Because of the Mobile Digital Lab students will have created and made a mark on their time at Crutcho leaving a new era of technology records for future students to follow.

Assessment:
Students will have produced a student website section on the schools website.
Students will have authored the schools yearbook by learning how to take the photos and apply the photos to the yearbook layout computer software program.
Students will have created several visual formats documenting areas of Oklahoma's Centennial History.

Requested and donated materials can be used by Middle School Math, Language Arts and the Science Teacher as well as any of our teachers in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Follow-Up
This new program can be implemented each year with the 8th grade students becoming our yearbook committee.
