Introducing Our School

In this unit students will take pictures that can be used to create a slide show for new students and their parents.

First the class will brainstorm about what pictures they think would be important to include: such as important places around the school, important people, activities to show.
Next, the class will discuss these ideas. The class will select what shots to include.
A list of shots to take will be made. Students, working in teams of two, will sign up for the shots that they will be responsible for shooting.
Students will be instructed in how to use the camera. They will practice in the classroom. The class will look at the pictures taken and will critique the pictures. After a couple of practice sessions, students will go to take their assigned pictures.
When all of the pictures are taken a slide show will be created. This slide show will then be made available for new students/parents coming into the school. It will also be used at other appropiate times such as for Open House night.
