Battlefield RoadTrip – Google My Maps

Task: You have decided to go on a road trip to visit some of the important battlefields of the Civil War. Using Google My Maps you will need to find the location of the National Battlefield for 5 important battles during the Civil War.

Find 5 Battlefield National Parks:
These should be from the battles that we talked about in class (Use your two YELLOW Battle Studies charts to help you)
Open a new Google My Map
Do a search and find the battlefield locations on your map
Pin the locations on your Google My Map

Describe the battle:
After you pin your location, give a brief description of each battle
Date
Important people (including generals)
Events of the battle
Outcome (who one)
Include a picture of the battlefield (you can use Google Images)

Plan your route:
After you have pinned and described the battles you will need to plan the best driving route
Your route should connect to each battlefield in the most logical order to complete your journey in the shortest time possible (in other words you should not go from Pennsylvania to South Carolina then back to Maryland – It would make more sense to go from Pennsylvania to Maryland then South Carolina)
Find the best route to the next closest location and connect it with a driving route.
You should have ONE driving route connecting all five locations

Submit your map:
Give your map a name
Submit it through Google Classroom

Map completed on time 5 points
5 locations tagged 5 points
Descriptions for all 5 battle sites 10 points
Pictures for all 5 battle sites 5 points
One driving route connecting all 5 battlefields in logical order 5 points
Total 30 Points
