Day 1 Students are placed in groups of 3-4. They select jobs such as timekeeper, organizer, researcher, and writer. The students browse through collections of fairytales to select a one that that they like. They read the story together.

Day 2 Students use a story elements chart to identify the plot, characters, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Most will complete this and move on to the planning stage. A handout is given to each group describing the specific requirements of the PowerPoint. They are given a storyboard to start planning their PowerPoint slides. One of the requirements on the handout is that the students will not use clip art. They may draw pictures or dress for the parts and take photographs. All artwork and pictures used in the presentation are original student work. As soon as the slides have been planned on the story board, students proceed to the computer to begin the PowerPoint slides.
Days 3-5 Students continue work on their project. Each student in the group has specific jobs to prevent off-task behavior. They are also required to take turns creating slides so that each child has equal opportunity working with PowerPoint.
