Objectives: Learn and use new math (geometry) vocabulary words Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.
Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.
Plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project.
Exhibit leadership for digital citizenship.
Identify and describe the properties of circles and polygons (triangle, quadrilateral, parallelogram, trapezoid, rectangle, square, rhombus, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, and decagon)
Identify, and classify angles that are acute, right, and obtuse
Procedure
Students will work independently.
Using digital cameras, students will locate and take photos of various geometric shapes in their neighborhood.
Of all pictures taken, each student will select three photos.
Each selected photo must contain the following: oThe name and definition of the shape oLocation of where the picture was taken (Example: Historic District, Bywater) oUsing lines drawn with PowerPoint software, each shape will be outlined for easy viewing. oList each shape¡¦s properties oExplain how the shape is being used (for example: triangular roof, flat roof) ƒæEach student will create a PowerPoint presentation explaining how these shapes are used in the rebuilding process. |
