Goal: Students will be able to learn of their families history by creating a family tree report.
Learning Objective: Students will trace the history of a family through the use of primary and secondary sources, including photographs and documents.
Core content Standard: History-Social Science Content Standard: people Who Make a Difference Standard 2.1, Strand #1. http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/hstgrade2.asp
Materials: Dgital Camera, Poster board, Printer, Glue, scanner, paper, pencil.
Procedure: 1. Get your parents involoved - describe your assignemnt to them. 2. Gather pictures and documents of relavtives past. 3. Create a timeline to organize pictures and documents. 4. Take pictures of family that is alive. 5. Organize pictures and documents in a cascading tree format. 6. Write a 2-3 page paper about your family.
Student Product: Students will turn in a photo-report made on tag board of their family tree. they will also turn in a 2-3 page paper about their family.
Assessment: Students will present their reports in a 10-15 minute presentation. Paper will be graded according to grade level content standards. |
