Purpose:
For students to become technically literate while meeting grade level language arts standards in writing, listening, and speaking in a way which provides an opportunity for character development and self expression.

Outcome
* Students will view photo essays by various authors and select one to write a reflection on.

* Students will take photographs of their community, family, friends, neighborhood, and other relevant images they feel represent their identity in some way.

* Students will select 10 of their best images that they feel will convey the most meaning and write a caption for each.

* Students will use editing software to create a story board using 10 of their best images and captions.

* Students will develop the photos and print the captions to place on mounted boards that will go on display in the mid city building.

* Students will then publish their digital content to the classroom website.

* Students will create an audio file for each caption using their own voice to include with each image, and publish audio content to the classroom website.

*Students will promote the website using email, fliers and word of mouth.

* Students will attend the Opening Exhibition event with family and friends.

I am currently collaborating with the AJA Project in San Diego.
Follow-Up
Art Display at the Mid City Heights Building with a opening night event where students, families, and community members are invited to view the display. Refreshments will be served and the City Heights Newspaper will be invited to cover the event.
