Keywords: house, spanish, real estate,
Subject(s): Foreign Language
Grades 10 through 12
School: VirtualSC, Columbia, SC
Planned By: Trixi DeRosa-Davis
Original Author: Trixi DeRosa-Davis, Duncan
Objective: Students will pretend to be Real Estate Agents in order to present and sell their home in Spanish.

Essential Question: How do you use the vocabulary you've learned to present your house?

Materials:
digital cameras
digital voice recorders
headphones
computer lab
Moviemaker
Power point

Procedures:

1. Students will begin by looking at ads for real estate in Spanish and review vocabulary for the different rooms of the house.

2. Students will learn how to take panoramic photos. Students will take digital pictures of each room in their house.

3. In the computer lab students will upload their pictures to powerpoint. Students will label each slide with the room of the house.

4. The slides will be saved as .jpg and imported in to windows moviemaker.

5. Students will add narration to their slides telling about each room in their house. Students will give complete sentences in Spanish about what the room is, at least 4 items located in the room and 1-2 activities that occur in that room.

6. The final minute of the presentation should be devoted to making the house sound desirable. The student should give a price for the house, a location and other information normally listed in an ad. If students do not wish to do their own house, they may create a fictional house.

7. Students will then create a title slide and a credit slide.

8. Students will share their videos with the class. Students will then rate the houses on which one they would most like to buy. The student with the most votes will receive an award for Best Real Estate Agent.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
