To help generate interest and curiosity, read a story of your choice focused on the first signs of spring. After reading the story, brainstorm with students what some of the first signs of spring are and ask if they have noticed any of these signs outside.
Ask the class if anyone has every used a digital camera before and if not show them how to use the camera.
Tell the students that they will be investigators and walk around the school to locate any of these signs.
After the class has photographed their first signs of spring, the photos are downloaded by the teacher and the students use their print to inspire their spring writing.
