24. Use both a primary and secondary source to describe key events or issues in early American history (H-1A-M4)
1.Introduce Primary and Secondary Documents to the students through a PowerPoint, flip chart, etc.
2. Discuss the difference between the two sources.
3. Now the students and teacher will work on creating a class list of what are primary and secondary sources. (a t chart can be used)
4. Make a class list of information that would be considered a primary source
a.Diary b.Letter c.Artifact d.Maps at that time e.Newspaper articles written at the time of the event f.Secondary source (textbook, biography).
5.Students should look over for primary sources for Colonial America using links given or bookmarked by the teacher.
6.Students will open MS Word Template on Primary and Secondary Documents and complete it on the computer. They will type in the gray area. The teacher will assess the document for a grade. See Colonial Time Template listed below.
7. Optional: The students can write a paragraph stating the differences between primary and secondary sources. |
