Students will take a walking trip to a local pond. During this trip they will capture several small pond creatures (insects, snails, eggs, etc). We will care for these insects and return them to their natural habitat upon completion. Using the microscopes and netbooks, we will observe and identify the creatures we find and capture.

Students will then research their creatures habitat, life cycle, food, place in food web. They will use technology to incorporate photos and video clips of their creature and create a short film/power point presentation to report on their pond creature.
Comments
I look forward to this exciting project and hope you will be kind enough to help us make it happen.
Follow-Up
Students can observe the creature throughout a life cycle. Students can experiment to find what happens if it is taken out of its habitat. Students can revisit the pond at different times of the year to monitor the creatures.
