My students will use the search engine Google to locate an endangered animal.

My students will identify and write a report about and endangered animal.

My students will make a Power Point presentation about their animal and present it to our third grade classes.

My students will use Clip Art Station in their Power Point presentations.

Step One -Two Days

I will select groups of students based on their reading levels so that the higher level students can help the lower level students with reading skills in this project. Then in the computer lab I will teach each group of students how to search for endangered animals. They will identify their animal and print their information about it.

Step Two- One Week

In the classroom I will monitor each group of students and help them as they write their reports about their endangered animal. Also in each group I will teach them how to edit their reports as a group and make their revisions.

Step Three- One Week

In the computer lab I will show each group of students how to use the Power Point software. How to insert text and pictures, change the font, change the size of the font, and insert clip art from Clip Art Station. I will monitor and help each group of students as they progress on their presentations.

Step Four- Two Days

I will teach my students how to stand at the side of the SmartBoard, how to advance to the next slide, and voice control when speaking. Next each group of students will practice their presentations to the other groups. They will receive feedback from the other groups of how they did.

Step Five- One Day

My students will present their Endangered Animal Power Point Presentations to a third grade class!
Comments
This is a wonderful lesson that will help my low readers become interested in reading. Reading is hard for my lower readers and sometimes they become frustrated and don't like reading. This project will put a spark back into their eyes.
