Read Poster Project 2005
Our library, art, and photography students would like to work together to create a series of large, colorful posters to encourage reading on our campus. Individual expressive portraits of many different students on our campus will be created. Each poster will show a student and an enlarged, full color book that they have enjoyed reading and would like to recommend to their peers. Text will be added as well as artistic manipulations in Tool Factory software. These posters will be hung throughout classrooms, offices, computer labs and the library, as well as other public areas.
Students will learn how to use digital cameras, scanners, printers, and Tool Factory Software . Students will apply concepts of design and elements of art to create 150 unique posters. Students will improve illustration and communication skills. Students will be encouraging all students on campus to perceive that being involved with reading is “cool” and fun.
This is a unique opportunity for students from the art department to work across the curriculum with students from the library to create a worthwhile project that will encourage students on all grade levels and from many different backgrounds to continue to read. If we can get printer ink cartridges, quality poster size printing paper, and the Tool Factory Workshop software, we can continue this poster program every year with the current students of our high school. This would support our school wide goals to improve reading. |
