At the start of each Science unit, second grade students will identify key vocabulary words. Using available resources (books, websites, etc.), students will collaborate with a partner to research vocabulary words. They will then create a 15-30 second video explaining their vocabulary word using drama, props, and or music. Students will use Flip Video Cameras to record their videos, then edit their videos using the FlipShare software. These videos will be saved to our school's shared drive by content and unit so all second grade students can review key vocabulary throughout the year. CDs will be made for each second grade student so they can review vocabulary at home. These videos will also be used to introduce key vocabulary for future years to come.

A future goal of this project is to have all vocabulary videos burned to a CD to give students at Open House, the week before school begins. Students can watch the videos at home with their parents before beginning units to build background knowledge.
