Planned By: Mattie Jacobs
Original Author: Mattie Jacobs, Shafter
Students look at pictures of different bridges, then as a group plan a bridge that crosses a river(blue paper). Students work in groups of 4 to design a bridge that spans the water, without touching it. It must hold up a plastic character of their choice.
Students build the bridge with materials of their choice that the teacher provides.
After testing their bridge, students find weaknesses and go back to strengthen their bridges.
Then present bridges to the class, tape presentations, and make available to other classes.
