To help my students reach their full potential, I need materials to provide my students with hands on, and problem based learning experiences.
I teach STEM and I can incorporate all of the games with this concept, especially coding.
The OSMO games will be incorporated into the lesson during centers, group work or independent time. You will decide which game to use when planning for the whole group lesson. The OSMO technology is used to reinforce lessons/skills that have been taught.
Below is a description of each game and what educational opportunities it provides:
Coding Awbie: Introduces coding to the students. I also use other online tools, but what makes this experience unique is that the students are actually manipulating the coding tiles by hand. The focus is coding, logic skills and problem solving, along with collaboration when working with partners/groups.
Tangrams: Tangrams is a way to introducing students to more complex shapes and their attributes. Playing Tangram allows students to utilize spatial and visual problem-solving skills.
Pizza Co.: This incorporates many math skills that allow the students to practice addition, subtraction and fractions. While teaching them the importance of budgeting and finances. They become entrepreneurs, and have to problem solve to successfully run a business.
Numbers: This game allows students to explore numbers at their own pace. There are different levels of complexity that allows for differentiation.
Masterpiece: This incorporates in the Arts into STEAM. It allows students to dig deep into their creativity and feel successful in the arts. Patience, concentration and motor skills are utilized to create art that the students take interest in.
Words: Gives the students an opportunity to work together or alone solving word puzzles. This game also provides students the opportunity to create their own word puzzles.
Monster Game: It brings animations to life. Students can teach about current concepts, by creating videos teaching about the concepts learned in the classroom.
