1. ENGAGE/ANTICIPATORY SET (HOOK): Students work in groups and rotate from station to station.
2. EXPLORE/INSTRUCTION: Students will spend 15 minutes per station during read 180. This group rotation is suggested by the READ 180 curriculum. The program suggests group times be between 15 and 20 minutes. The class has been split up into three groups and have named themselves the “Red Blobs”, “MAC”, and “Independent”. Because students are use to rotations for ELA we will be utilizing the same set up however we will be preparing for the district writing assessment.
Read 180 APP Station: This rotation will not be used for this lesson. Independent Reading Station: While at the independent reading station the group will read the achieve 3000 article with Mrs. Correia. They will stop and highlight key information from the text in preparation for their informative essay that they will begin writing on Wednesday
3. GUIDED PRACTICE: Teacher Station: Students will be learning how to properly cite resources. The short lesson will begin with the teacher explaining what a work cited page is. Students will then be provided with various examples of works cited pages. After explaining what a works cited page is students will then practice citing various sources utilizing an anchor chart. I will show students three different resources. Students will be given note cards with different components of the given resource such as the title, author, and page numbers. Students will then place the information in the correct spot by referencing the anchor chart displayed for students. Once students have sorted through three different resources they will then site 2 different sources on their own.
4. EXPLANATION/INFORMAL ASSESSMENT: Assessment will be conducted through students work cited practice worksheets.
5. CLOSURE: Considering this is a rotation set up there is no formal closure.
