Students will choose a topic from what we see in the news headlines. From this they will research numerous reliable websites such as .gov, .edu.

From the sources chosed, they will need to find graphs, statistics to state their position and why this is important in society. For example, the topic may be that libraries should exist or revamp what they do to help meet society's need.

They will need to type an outline and send it to me through email or google docs, I will provide immediate feedback and we can conference as well.

Through the proces of writing their paper, I will meet with each students and disuss the process with them, or help them in anyway.

At the end, students will have written their paper and turned it in online. I can go though and make comments.

They have the opportunity to rewrite once we conference again.

This paper is just one of many that they will keep in their portfolio.

At the end, they will write in their journals and reflect on the assignment.
Comments
I teach six hours of Language and Composition and students need to have a laptop that stays in the classroom. By doing this, I will not have to compete to check out a Chromebooks with other teachers.
