This lesson is set for student who are in the Regional Academic Life Skill program at Elkridge Landing Middle School. These students range from 6-8 graders that are below 70 IQ and are learning basic life skills as well as being in a self-contained setting with 1:1 instruction. These students are learning what their name is, how to write it and how to communicate their name with others.
This lesson gives them the sneak peak into what technology is as well as using a camera. These are the steps of the project:
1. Teacher or adult in the room will take continuous photos of the student writing their name. From their they will put together the the images to take the student step by step of the direction of writing each letter.
2. The student will add audio on an iMovie to speak each of the letters in their name.
3. The student will refer back to the finished iMovie in a "technology station", to work on writing their name independently.
4. The student will then use that iMovie to transfer their knowledge of writing their name on a digital whiteboard to be saved for data purposes. |
