Class Description:
My students are a group of diverse students from Newport News, Virginia. I have students with special needs, students who are learning or have learned English as a second language, transient military kids, students living in poverty, etc. Most of my students come to reading below grade level and have failed each year in school. Despite this, my students are hard working and make huge gains while in my classroom each year. They not only aim to soak up as much information as possible, but they also apply their personal interests and academic knowledge to consider and prepare for potential careers they want for their future. They all want to create a better life for themselves then their parents have had. They are devoted to their studies and utilizing their education to make this world a better place.

I teach students, because they are the future. They need to learn not just the content from our curriculum, but also how to be a citizen of the world and prepared for their future role in improving our society.
