Why Do I Teach?:
Because it is who I am at my core. One of my former principal's said to a group of colleagues and me, "You teach because you can't do anything else." My first reaction was bewilderment, I thought, "Surely, she doesn't see us as that incapable," but I warmed steadily as I realized what she meant was not that we did not have the abilities and talents to succeed at anything else but instead she meant she realized we would not want to do anything else. "couldn't let ourselves do" anything else. So, I relaxed in the compliment and enjoyed the confirmation that helping students grow was what I am meant to do.
