Standard boring dull vanilla classroom. A teacher from 100 years ago could walk into my classroom and recognize it as a classroom.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
Smart Board, Ceiling mounted Projector, Computer (lap top) to drive smart board, wi-fi, and surround sound
My Philosophy:
My school is an alternative high school that serves students who have not been successful at regular high school. These students represent a 100% at-risk environment. The challenge is to reach and teach these students and prepare them for the jobs that will be available in the new global economy. These students have failed because the public school system has failed them. Technology will empower me to reach and teach many of these students. Classrooms of today have not changed much in the past 200 years, since the invention of the blackboard. I want to "wow" students with modern technology, and hopefully motivate them to continue and complete their high school education. We can do this with large screen educational film clips currently available on the internet in You Tube (free lectures and animations - many university level) AND Apple I-Tunes (free lectures and animations). Students will be empowered to prepare PowerPoint Presentations and Present them in class on the interactive SMART Board

Why Do I Teach?:
Teaching is a highly rewarding profession. Teaching at an alternative high school is a labor of love...a mission. Small class sizes enable me to develop close relationships with students and hopefully I can leverage this relationship as I encourage them to make wiser choices in life, and successfully complete their high school education.
