Perhaps the greatest traits possessed are love and respect. You must teach with love. You must love what you are teaching. Your students must feel your love and respect for them and for what you are doing. You must give respect to earn respect. I feel that I earn respect from students and teachers by allowing them to be themselves. Each person is an individual with individual needs and differences. These must all be met individually. I love working with all the various students and teachers. I love seeing the satisfaction and pleasure they feel when they succeed. The smiles that stretch from one ear to another when they enjoy success remind me each time of what teaching is all about. I feel a new success for each “I can” statement they make.
Technology is a wonderful tool that can help students and teachers in many ways. Many students respond to technology when they haven’t responded to other methods of instruction. For the first time, they feel success they haven’t felt in other areas. However, many teachers are intimidated by technology. It is my job to help them see and understand how technology can be integrated into their curriculum. As we have a mutual respect for one another’s gifts, teachers and I collaborate together to establish the goals and objectives for students as we plan lessons. Team teaching with classroom teachers allows teachers the opportunity to see how easily technology can be integrated into their curriculum.

Having grown up in a family of educators, I was surrounded by love, compassion, understanding, challenges, and people who lived their philosophies of education in an authentic way of life. They realized the importance of education and imparted that to me throughout my life. I continued to experience this when I started teaching and was surrounded by master teachers from whom I could learn. Learning from others was the greatest gift given to me. A master teacher should possess and cultivate traits that allow students to strive for their potential. I want to help students strive for their potential.
